Robert Squires
Managing Director
As Managing Director of A&V Squires, Robert Squires is ultimately responsible for the management and operation of the business supported by a dedicated team of senior management, and many long-term and loyal employees. Robert has over 25 years’ experience in the civil engineering and construction industry.
Although he now heads up the family firm, Robert started as a site operative and worked in all areas of the business to gain hands-on experience before becoming a Director in 1998 and Managing Director in 2010. Today, Robert is responsible for the company’s more than 50 staff, including contract management staff and operatives, administration and accountancy staff and the compliance management team. He also personally oversees and conducts site inspections to ensure Health, Safety & Welfare compliance, together with the company’s environmental and quality management standard requirements.
Robert’s experience includes managing and controlling civil engineering projects ranging from smaller works up to multi-site, multi-million pound projects for both large blue chip clients and local and regional authorities. Key projects include: EDF Energy power generation plants at West Burton & Staythorpe, Heacham Beach Flood defence works for the Environment Agency, Larinier fish and Eel pass at Darley Abbey for Canal Rivers Trust, civil engineering and construction works for British Gypsum Saint Gobain at five national geographic locations & CRH Tarmac at various national locations.
Mark Woodward
Operations Manager
With more than 25 years of “hands-on” experience in the construction industry and transport & logistics sectors, Mark is A&V Squires’ Operations Manager and has been employed by the Company since 1989.
Mark’s responsibilities include the general day-to-day management of the civil engineering teams involved in dedicated, long-term site activities and also the mobile work teams operating on site, both regionally and nationally. He ensures the most cost-effective procurement of items necessary for the project works and their timely delivery to individual sites. He also manages the effective deployment of human and plant resources to ensure that our clients’ work schedules and programs are met effectively.
Along with other members of the senior management team, Mark is responsible for implementing our policy of ensuring that health, safety & welfare requirements are exceeded at every work site location, together with the achievement of the required levels of environmental and quality management.
Mark is jointly responsible for the successful delivery of project contract works on behalf of our many clients and customers with an important liaison role with our clients.
Timothy Weaver
Plant and Earthworks Manager
With over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, Tim is A&V Squires’ Plant and Earthworks Manager, having been with the company since 1997.
He is responsible for the procurement of suitable labour and plant resources in order to carry out the contracted works safely and efficiently. This includes responsibility for and on-site coordination of all plant and plant operators, general operatives, sub-contractors’ labour and site engineers as required.
Alongside other members of the senior management team, Tim also ensures that all on-site plant, labour and materials meet the standards required in the contract and specifically also meet safety, quality and environmental standards, together with cost management and control.
Tim is involved from the outset to conclusion of our projects and regularly attends pre-contract meetings and progress meetings. He conducts day-to-day liaison with the client’s site representatives , undertakes regular site inspections and ensures all documentation is completed as required by project quality inspection plans.
Tim has wide-ranging experience covering many projects, including major Midlands JCE flood alleviation works, on behalf of principal contractor Jackson Civil Engineering, across Fazeley, Kingsbury, Whittaker Heath, Pickering, Nottingham Left Bank and Leicester.
